Our Story

Whurl Plastics is a family-owned company started by John & Cushla Bloomfield in 1975. Over the years, all three of their children have worked at Whurl at some stage, as the company continuously gained an enviable reputation in the plastic injection moulding industry, doing business with some clients for more than 25 years.

In 2021, the business was acquired by Jana and Ben Thomas. Similarly sharing the same strong family and success values, Ben and Jana are committed to safeguarding the company's reputation of excellence by steadfastly providing high-quality products and services.

Gregg Bloomfield, one of John and Cushla's sons, is an integral part of the company up to this day. In charge of the operations, he provides invaluable expertise and knowledge in driving the business to its continued success and development.

Ben Thomas and Jana Thomas
Directors/Owners

Ben Thomas is a classic kiwi family man who has always had a passion for manufacturing, from design to production. With many years of experience working in manufacturing industries, he loves to see how an idea can become a finished product. 

Jana provides support in the marketing and management of the company.

Jana and Ben are firmly dedicated to supporting all customers (new and old ) in their companies' development by providing a reliable partnership with their merchandising needs.

Gregg Bloomfield 
General Manager

Whurl Plastic's operations manager Gregg Bloomfield has assisted the business successfully for 27 years and is an integral part of the organisational success. Gregg has an in-depth knowledge of polymer processing and injection moulding. His skills stretch over a broad range including from concept through to die design and processing. His understanding of the manufacturing process is coupled with his care and attention to detail ensuring that what he produces meets only the highest of standards.
