Consistent plastic injection moulding at any volume
Whether you need short run plastic injection moulding or ongoing supply, production is planned around your needs
Injection moulding often involves working around a manufacturer’s minimum order quantities, but at Whurl Plastics, production is tailored to your needs. Whether you need a small batch in a specific colour or are planning a larger run, your schedule sets the pace.
We are able to produce various order quantities, so there is no pressure to order more than you need or to hold excess stock. As demand grows, production can scale up without changing the way your orders are managed.
Colour accuracy is a technical process, not left to chance. Matching a cap to a can or packaging is routine, with pigments sourced locally or overseas where required. Each batch is checked against your approved sample.

Whurl Plastics manufactures a wide range of plastic components to consistently high quality standards. Serving customers across New Zealand and Australasia, the company provides reliable manufacturing solutions for businesses across diverse industries.
Every run, whether a single box or a large shipment, is monitored and checked to ensure orders arrive as expected. The production schedule adapts when real-world changes occur, with urgent jobs or order changes managed by adjusting production where possible.
Machines operate 24/7, keeping work moving as priorities shift. Find out more about our manufacturing process.
Colour matching without guesswork
Colour matching is handled as a technical requirement. When a new product requires a brand match, the colour is matched directly, including sourcing specialist pigments, metallics or fluoro shades from overseas if needed. Batches are checked against your approved sample and monitored throughout the run.
If anything is off, it is identified before the product leaves the factory. Routine checks help prevent mixed colours or inconsistent parts. For more on how we approach colour and pigment selection, see the Aerosol Caps & Aerosol Products page.

Tooling and design for production
Projects can begin with a sketch or a CAD file and progress through drawings, tooling and production. Toolmakers are selected based on lead time, capability and budget, using a trusted network of local and overseas partners.
New tooling methods, such as 3D printed steel tooling, can be explored where suitable. Tooling is typically owned by you unless agreed otherwise and if a design change could improve cost, performance or safety, it is raised early.
Material selection is based on the part’s performance requirements, with options including food-grade resins, tough polymers, recycled plastics and PLA. Strength, flexibility and end use are assessed before production. Offcuts are reground and reused for non-food runs.
Packaging is managed with waste reduction in mind, with boxes reused up to ten times and tracked by QR code. Short-run injection moulding is standard and follows the same checks as high-volume contracts. If your order grows, output can scale without changing quality processes.
A new part is reviewed for shape, finish and output. Geometry, run size and material needs are checked before pricing and planning. Changes for moulding or tooling cost are discussed early. See more about custom plastic moulding company project assessment.
Short run injection moulding is standard. Smaller batches confirm fit, function and colour before larger volumes. Insights from early runs carry over as production grows. More on custom plastic manufacturing and handling changes.
Tooling covers design, technical changes, tool making, sampling and sign-off. Tooling is normally owned by you unless agreed otherwise. Storage and maintenance can be discussed during planning. See plastic prototyping and production for more on tooling.
Checks happen throughout a run, starting with sample approval then regular inspection during production. QR codes add traceability and help pinpoint issues. Special checks are agreed during planning. More on aerosol caps manufacturer standards and scale checks.
Food grade plastic manufacturing uses compliant resins, strict cleaning and documented supplier info. Clean room testing is done by external providers and results can be shared if needed. More on food grade plastic manufacturing is available.
